Niche and Keystone Species
Keystone species are crucial for anything to survive. They are the foundation of a species, and the keystone species in Krakatoa Indonesia is Krill. They are food for many animals, and its population is huge. The Krills niche is to feed animals such as penguins, squids, whales, and other tundra sea creatures. All Krill are just sea creatures, the volcano defiantly affected them as well. When the part of the island that sunk went under water, that affected the Krill. The disruption of the water, and the extremely warm land and lava on top of that land, could very potentially kill or harm the Krill. After the volcano stopped erupting, the ash eventually fell, and a majority of it landed in the ocean, causing very dangerous particles to be in the water where the Krill live. Ultimately, the dropping rate of Krill will aslo affect the animals that eat the Krill, in turn dropping their population as well. When a keystone species is messed with, everything gets affected, because if it didn't then it wouldn't really be a keystone species, and the Krill has many predators, making a very serious keystone species.
